Stop Bullying: Speak Up | Pledge

Found a really great article on BlogHer today!

Bullying hurts our kids. It can have a lasting and damaging impact on their lives - sometimes more than we realize. Our goal is to raise awareness of the simple, yet powerful actions that parents, kids, and educators can take to prevent bullying. We hope to inspire millions of bystanders to take action by speaking up when they see bullying and to grow a community committed to ending bullying.

We know that the vast majorities of kid & teens are NOT engaged in bullying, but when it occurs, everyone has the power to stop bullying when they see it happen.
That’s why Facebook and Time Warner launched the Stop Bullying: Speak Up pledge. At its core, the Pledge is a public statement from parents, teachers, and students that they will take action when you see bullying occur. It’s aimed at inspiring the grand majority of people who witness bullying to come together as a community, take simple steps to help someone in need, and to create a culture that makes bullying – and the drama that leads to it – uncool.
More than 80,000 people throughout the country have taken the Pledge. Today, we ask you to join the movement. Here are a few simple actions that will go a long way:
  1. Take the pledge. Go to facebook.com/stopbullyingspeakup to take the Pledge. Then share it with all of your family and friends on Facebook.
  2. Post the pledge on your blog. Go to the Take Action Center and click on the Get the Widget link so that you can get the widget. Your readers will be able to take the pledge without ever leaving your page.
  3. Share your stories. We encourage you to write, blog, post your stories about how bullying has impacted you, your family, and your friends. We hope to feature some of your stories on the Stop Bullying: Speak Up wall in the coming weeks and months.
Do any of you have memories in school of bullying?

Tootles,
T & Co.
